IX exhaust question

Does anyone know if the Megan TBE or Buschur Racing TBE will fit the Evo IX? I know there has been some fitment issues.

I believe the Buschur does, but I don't have confirmation on the Megan.

By Jan 15th, my car will be a new beast. I'm probably around 300whp now, but I might be up close to 360whp by then. I have 7 new toys from sponsors that are arriving and being installed in the next 2 weeks. Then, it will all be custom road tuned by Dynoflash Al on the 15th. The goal is around 350+whp, but this will be without cams. I guess you could say it's still on pump gas, too.

Btw, one of the Warrtalon Staged customers is bringing in his car with a Megan exhaust to let us test fitment and everything. We'll be doing it on the lift to see all the problems that arise, if any. I will report back after Saturday when it occurs...

From what Dave Buschur said there is some interference between an exhaust system made for the EVO VIII and the mount for the drive shaft carrier bearing. His solution was to cut down the mount a little bit since there is no reason he could find for it to stick out as far as it did.

I think you will be pretty close to that 11 second mark on pump gas. I cant wait til I start tuning my evo.

Which 06 do you have RS, GSR, MR? Also did you have to trim the mount for the drive shaft carrier bearing at all, like Fourdoor said? I am really thinking about going with the Buschur TBE, not expensive and probably one of the best flowing systems out there.

I have the GSR. I didn't have to trim anything. The only problem I've experienced was on 3 separated occasions, when the engine has been running for awhile, it rattled during idle. Doesn't happen everytime, though. I've checked underneath, believing it to be the dp, but everything seems fine.

Also, I was concerned about being too loud, so I ordered the hi-flow cat. I since have changed to the test pipe and it sounds good with the Magnaflow muffler.

That rattle is the exhaust vibrating against the drive shaft carrier bearing mounting braket. That is why Dave Buschur trimed the braket on the first EVO IX he installed the exhaust on.

Exactly what i was asking, thanks keith. I was pretty sure no matter what trim level you have that you had to trim the braket. I don't know if you guys have looked into it yet but Buschur just came out with a new muffler called the Bullet Muffler. Its nice and quieter then there race muffler and still puts down the same power. I'm looking into getting this new Bullet muffler TBE setup for my MR. Sould end up being real nice.

Dave will be sending me a full BR TBE with this new muffler as soon as he has fulfilled all his current orders. Unfortunately for me, his entire first shipment is already spoken for, so it will be a few weeks before I get mine, but I'm not complaining, since he offered it to me.

Awesome. I really like the new muffler set up. Definitely let us know Warr, when you get it on, how you like it. Also what kind of power increase you gained over you Megan exhaust.

I will be doing a full review of the BR TBE with the new muffler to include a full comparison with the Megan:

- weight difference
- sound difference
- fitment difference
- power difference (if any, but I don't expect much - a gain would be awesome, of course)
- looks difference

I can tell you right now that I'm just happy to get an exhaust with a smaller tip (4" vs 5") and one that is not as loud. My Megan has served me very well, but it's always been a bit too loud for me. To others, it's no big deal - I just am paranoid of cops hearing me while driving around.
