New EVO IX MR

So I managed to grab an adult owned evo 9 mr with only 12,000 miles. I purchased this car for the pure fact the my 98 TSI AWD took a dump on me a few days ago. When I owned my DSM I did A LOT of reading into what my car would hold as far as TQ and HP , ect.


I can't seem to find very much about the 9's or MR 9's.

I guess my questions are as follows, how much HP/TQ until I start damaging the tranny/clutch/engine(tuning) From what I've read the MR's a slightly weaker tranny and clutch then the 9's.

I read the stage 1 and 2 upgrade faq's already and honestly didnt see too many answers.

I'm looking for my HP to be in a basic 340-360 which I know isn't hard to accomplish. I figure I could get that with intake, exhaust, and boost controller right?


What I really wanna know is what are some of the basic mods/exact companies you all use and recommend. Price is not a problem so yea, let me know.

check out ETS's packages they make some great stuff. also check out gruppe-s.com for good deals on parts. ECUflash is the way to go when tuning.

I read the faqs so I know the paths to take. What I didn't read, and was wondering, was ANY preferred brands or a HP/TQ limit for the stock tranny/clutch for the MR.

The evo's and dsm's aren't so different minus the evo's show greater power with the mods then the dsms.... maybe more reliable as well but oh well.

I will look into the ETS packages and check the other sites.

For example, as far as intake whats preferred injen, fujita, or k&n?

boost controller greddy, aem, ?

Exhaust ebay, apexi, ?

boost gauge doesnt really matter i suppose... all it does is read boost.


Just ect... I am really just wanting to know what everyone prefers. What seems to give the most power/best sound/quality? When did your clutch start crapping itself/tranny?
