To tune or not to tune.

What's up guys. I need some advice. About a year ago before I knew any better, I made the mistake of buying an Injen intake and upic pipe kit. It wasn't until after I got online and did some research did I see what a mistake I made. Since then though, I've gotten a tbe, buschur licp, and ebc, as well as gotten reflashed through Dynoflash.
Well anyway, I'm tdy out here in Turkey. Been here for about two months now and I've got less than two left. And fortunately I'll have some extra cash to "invest" into my Evo. I was thinking about getting my car professionally tuned when I get back. Just curious about two things. If I do would I be better off getting rid of the intake and uicp before the tune or would I experience more gains with it? Or should I just stick with the reflash I've got? Thanks for the advice guys.

Custom tuning is almost always better than a mail-in flash. As for whether to remove the UICP and intake, I don't really know anything about the injen stuff so I can't comment.

My opinion is to leave them alone since you're already tuned for them. If you'd like to try to recoupe some $ then by all means pull them and sell them to someone who doesn't know any better. Then have your custum tuning done which will compensate for going back to the stock stuff. From a performance stand point I don't believe they are hurting you since you're tuned for them, but it's not like they are really a big help either, so it's up to you. Just throwing it out there, but if you did sell those pieces you could always use the $ towards an SS 02 housing and or ported/coated manifold, which would actually help you a good bit.

An o2 housing is definetely something I was thinking about adding. As well as selling the intake and uicp to recoupe some $. But are you saying that if I remove them and get the custom tuning I would only be back to where I am right now as far as power?

No. Since those 2 parts are not really doing anything for you swapping back to the stock pieces would keep you right about where you are. You then get the custome tune which will not only account for you switching your intake back to stock etc.... but it should also yield some extra power since you'll no longer be running a canned tune.

Ok, I understand. I wouldn't wanna do it if it wasn't gonna give me any gains.

Anybody have any suggestions on a good o2 housing. I was thinking about going with ttp or buschur. Buschur's is going for $200. TTP is selling their's for $99.

Well, I would have to do some checking to see if they are useing the same materials, design, etc.... because double the price is interesting. If you did go with Bushur however go ahead and spend the extra $ and get the ported and coated 02 housing. Cooler and better flow.

Looking at the buschur site, the ported o2 is obviously a stock o2 housing just ported and coated for $225, the ss o2 is ceramic coated for $200. The ttp o2 is also ss and measures 70mm. Not sure about the measurements on the Buschur o2.

This info is common knowledge, I thought. Use the regular SS o2. That's what everyone uses and what Buschur recommends. Buschur used to port/coat the stockers, but then when he tested his own ported/coated stocker vs a plain SS O2, he saw a 10whp difference. So, he then bought a ton of the SS O2s, ceramic coated them all, and started selling them that way.

Hands down, the SS O2 is the route to take. You just choose if you want one that is coated or not. It's best to have the stock exhaust manifold ported/coated, 10.5 hotside ported/coated, and SS O2 coated. All that combined makes for a nice, free, fast exhaust flow en route to the TBE.

PS. All of these O2s have a 2.5" outlet.

Hey is the injen intake system with the upper and lower IC pipes any good? It is said that they dyno*d a proven 22hp gain? I was wondering because I am looking for a decent upgrade for the future. Thanks
