My turbo Knowledge is very limited, although i am a very able mechanic... Is it recommended to have a turbo timer on a stock turbo setup. I have a stock 06 MR (stock for now at least) How does a turbo timer work by the way?
Turbo timers are more of a show item.......They are not needed for any setup......Do you run your car really hard then just cut it out? or do you run your car hard then while your driving to your destination take it easy for a short amount of time? either let your car idle for 30sec to a minute before turning off or just drive civil to where you are going to park your car. Driving like a normal person for a mile or 2 will allow everything to cool down better then just letting your car idle in a spot......
i have a Turbo timer on my stock setup but it is not needed for any setup. if you want t o spend $100 for a decent one with a harness, go for it! but $100 could get you a good MBC too.....
I think of the turbo timer as a extra safety item. I would rather have my car run for extra time so I know the turbo has had time to cool down than have the oil and coolant coke up inside it. But it really is more of a personal preference. I love it when people say hey you left your car running, Oh yeah and just keep walking, screws with people. I think of it as $100 for the turbo timer or $500+ for a turbo.
