Using the Regional Meets & Events Forums
Please do not use the regional forums as a replacement for the Classifieds, the Hangout Forum (off topic chat), or the Tech Forums. If you post something that is better suited for one of those areas, we'll move the post or delete it. The regional forums are designed to be used for event organization and helping local EVO members get together.
When posting a title for a thread, include the local city name, the date, and meeting spot where the meet will take place. This way, members can tell right away how current the topic is. If the event has passed, the thread is obviously outdated. If you don't have a location or a date nailed down, at least use a tentative date and the city name. Please only post one thread per event instead of multiple events (and topics) in one big thread. Once the event details are finalized, post all the info in our Event Calendar: Event Calendar This will help make it so people don't have to sift through threads to find an event happening in their area. Please make a habit of using the event calendar with all new events. Many use it to find new events instead of looking through these forums. If you're trying to find members in your area, avoid asking "anyone from 'xxx' city?" There is an easier way to find that info. Just click the Site Members link up in the navigation bar. On that page will be a Search Members link that will take you to this page: Search Members Search for state (and city or region names) to find other members in your area. If you have a question for local members that is not related to an event, that is okay. But be sure and title your thread well so people know what you need. What we absolutely don't want, is for the regional forums to become a mini-Hangout where locals are just chatting with other locals. That's what the Hangout is for. We don't want tech questions being asked here instead of the Tech forums, where they should be posted. We don't want Classifieds being posted when we have a separate Classifieds section. We don't want long run-on threads where locals post about multiple events instead of posting new threads for each new event. If we find that a specific area has a lot of participation, we'll consider opening a separate forum for them in order to help prevent these long run-on threads. However, if you just title your threads appropriately, there is no need for the long threads. Thanks everyone!
