Hi all
this is kind of crazy but last week i was in a hurry and also to feel some power, when i stop to get in to the blvd close to my house all the gears went smooth as usual exept 6 gear it is like is not there and i mean not there reverse works fine,and all others the funny part is i can put in 6 gear manually by moving the links in the engine compartment..by any chance this cbles stretch? tnks for any advice..
in your profile it says you have a evo 8 rs 2004 model. They never made a 6spd RS model and I dont know why you would swap a 6spd into a rs. Is this a 05 evo MR by chance? from 03-06 the models that had 6spds were the MR.
i got it when i got the car..i bouth it in VA Beach and it allready got the 6 speed also came with some gauges and hks cams and sprokets and and apex neo..the previous ower i bet i was into the racing..but yes is an rs and got a 6 speed.
well the previous owner is an idiot. everyone i know that has a 6spd ditchs it for a 5spd once they start really tracking it or making power. start small cables, mounts. Noone i know rebuilds the 6spd though not even sheptrans. So it may be time to start looking into a built 5spd. Let us know what the real issue is once its resolved
Ok i'm back..probrem is done..guess what.the fix its called a 5 speed tranny..so no more 6 speed..and in top off that i think i know what was the problem with the 6 gearr issue. ok i got a frien in ocala FL and he went to a huge salvage yard in gainsville fl. there was the tranny so i drive my wife truck(durango) to fl and get while i was there i ask my friend if he got an advice or a comment in regards the 6 gear issue and he told me that his son got an evo 8 mr that happend the same thing and he went to hell looking the issue, finally was fix by replacing the 2 cables and putting the brass bushing..so that was for the gear thingy but know i got it 5 speed and running good..tomorrow morning my plans are installing a HKS SSQV bov so hopefully i don't got any issues ..thanks all of you for your comments and advice is really apriciated..
Ohh i forgot, the previous owner of the car was a US Navy salor and i belive that he is one of those that you tell him put this and the car will run faster and he will do it. so i think that was one of his deals putting a 6 speed on an RS..again tnks all of you..
so now you have a 5spd tranny? wouldnt it have been easier to replace the cables and bushings? Also why the HKS SSQV? are you going to VTA and get tuned on a stand alone?
yes rookhoe i change it for a 5 speed now.siclanevo yup i got the 5 speed tranny. the hks i got it from an crash evo and was really cheap but i still thinking on doing it ,the car is running good now so i don't want to mess with it.for the cable and bushing thing, well i get the 5 speed tranny and then i was told the cable fix(if that was the fix not for sure that was) thing.i didn't want to take a chance after i got the tranny (5 speed) and make it to FL (700 miles from home..)
