how much performance can I get out of the X with $500?

Hey guys debating getting the X or not. I'm wondering what kind of horsepower/torque numbers I could get out of it for around $500 worth of add ons.

Any thoughts?

well $500 will not net you a lot of quality parts. So maybe a intake and a tune. numbers vary on tuner and part. i would say 30-50whp with a great tuner

What would you get if you didnt get the X? $500 could probably get you a used exhaust and a drop in air filter, but a tune would get you some solid, safe definate numbers. As mentioned above, with a really good tuner ofcourse.

What about this Vishnu tuning systems that I've been reading about? Apparently you just mail your ECU to them and they can get it back to you for up to 380 HP return, without any extra external parts added all for $500. Does this seem reasonable?

Notice how they say "up to" 380 HP. There is NO WAY that youre going to extract 380 HP out of a stock Evo.

And every car is different. One tune that might work well on one car, may not work that great on another car. Also, you would be sending them your ECU, or would you be logging the ECU and emailing them that data??

i beleive it could be at the crank with a boost controller maybe......but no way a tune will net you 140whp......

look at the dyno graphics of the evo IX

the 370HP package is actually 270 HP in an evo IX
the 400 HP package is actually 307 HP also in a Ix

so now you now what's going on
the "370 HP" doesn't mean 370 horses but a "package name"
like i can say: "HD" glases , or "3D tv", bullshit.
