hmm...well the a/f didn't look too lean...maybe a little bit but not much. Just needs richer mainly at 4k and 4.5k and a little at 3.5 too...but I'd say 11.2-3 is ok for 91 octane...its tricky though...I really hate 91. some of it knocks worse then others...

if you made 311whp with 11.0-1 afr then leave it, thats good

Yeah I picked up alot of power by richening up the mid range. Made a huge difference in the way it pulled. I need to pick up my own data logger and wideband. They are very useful. I hate stabbing in the dark with tunning with my butt dyno, LOL!!! I rather have something to look at that shows improvements.

Thanks for the advice man.

I did notice that up in the 5000 range and also in the 6000 range there were two distinct dips that could be felt while driving the car. With the wideband it showed an AFR of 11.6. It must have been to lean and the ECU was pulling some mad timing out. I added some fuel throughout that whole range and the dip is gone. Soon I won't have to worry about this 91 stuff anymore. I will be on the east cost in about a week!!!

hmmm...do the dataloggers for the EVO's read knock or are they like the 2gs where you have to guess when timing is getting pulled. If you noticed them then it probably was timing being pulled as a result of knock...and it was probably pretty bad if you noticed it...

I guess 11.0 is the best for 91oct...thats actually how I had my Eclipse tuned with DSMLink... 10.9-11.2 but I still had to pull a degree of timing in certain spots so it wouldn't knock and pull more than a degree.

The datalogger doesn't measure knock as far as I know. I run alot smoother on an 11.0:1 afr.

New dyno results are in! These numbers are from the dyno dynamics dynometer at Axis racing in St Lois, MO.

Pump gas 311.1 HP @ 6200 RPM and 311 lb/ft of torque @ 4250 RPM.

My peak power was at 6200 RPM and my boost at that point on the graph was 20 psi. The torque peak at 4250 RPM was at 22 psi of boost. I was spiking up to 23 psi and droping to 19 psi by redline.

Then I swaped over to the race gas and loaded in my race gas map, results:

332.8 HP @ 6000 RPM and 333 lb/ft of torque @ 4170 RPM.

At the peak power point of 6000 RPM I was making 21.5 psi of boost and at the peak torque point of 4170 RPM I was making 25 psi of boost. I was spiking up to 25 psi and droping down to 19.5 by redline.

Keep in mind these numbers are all on a Dyno dynamics dynometer like the one Shiv uses, commonly called "the heart breaker" dyno.... well, lets just say my heart isn't broken

Using Shivs "dyno equalizer" programe I am making 435 HP at the flywheel on pump gas (equivelent to 366 wheel HP on a dynojet or dynapack) and 466 HP at the flywheel on race gas (equivelent to 392 wheel HP on dynojet or dynapack) . Oh, and after I finished the tuning I put the cat back on and pulled 322 HP on the dyno that would be 452 HP at the flywheel on race gas (equivelent to 380 wheel HP on a dynojet or Dynapack).

Keith
