Backfiring issue

sorry if post this in the wrong section but...my evo just started to backfire today. everytime i let off the gas. the car feels weaker and i noticed a burning smell...i checked under the hood and yea the smell was coming from somewhere in there...but i dont know everything looked normal...what could this problem be? any ideas would be greatful

Any mods?

Turbo XS intercooler, HKS Hi Power Catback, Injen Short Ram and ecu reflash these mods were put on about 7 months-1yr ago...no work done lately...i dont drive it everyday i only drive it when i need to travel and rarely beat on it...the last time it i drove it was two weeks ago and it was still running good until i ran to this issue last night. just got done checking out the plugs..they seem to look pretty decent...

now my car doesnt start up correctly...it shakes and soon dies and when it dies there's also this back fire pop sound coming from the exhaust...this is called a misfire rite? do you think this is caused from my spark plugs even though they still look good?? but i do have 65K miles on my car maybe its time to change those plugs?
