I was going to send in my ECU to get a flash but i was looking at the Cobb Access port. Does anyone have any info on it. It seems easy to use and being able to flash your own car is always a plus. So if anyone has any feed back let me hear it. ,-,Thanks,-,

Flashing is always better for drivablity and performance. That means alot less to go wrong.

I'm pretty sure that the Cobb unit just flashes the stock ECU. I think a couple of downsides is that it is really expensive and that most people will probably use the generic Cobb maps which won't be as good as a dyno or road tune that is specific to the car, mods, location, etc.

I don't see much advantage of using the AccessPort versus a laptop and EcuFlash. Oh, you don't have to carry a laptop around with you. But you could buy a NICE laptop for the price of the AccessPort... and you can look up porn with a laptop

You can already flash yourself with EcuFlash as long as you have a laptop and get the $90 Tactrix cable (read the tutorial stickied in this forum). The Cobb AP is a great unit, but there's VERY little reason to get it when we have free flashing software in the Evo community...

The only reason I can think of to get it, is if you have no desire to learn how to tune your car yourself.
I took a look at one of these at the last SEMA show. It's very pretty, displays some cool stuff, and gives you the ability to flash the stock ECU only with Cobb's maps available for download.
When I spoke to them about it, and maybe I misunderstood the rep., but it still gave the individual no control over timing and fuel and only Cobb authorized tuners will be able to customize maps and tables.

... and how much will these authorized guys charge?
... and it starts at $695!
I'll put that towards a used laptop ($300), cable ($90), evoscan ($25), and a wideband ($200), but that's just me.

all good points. thats why i asked. The only flash I can get will be a mail in flash. Unfortunately I dont have anyone to show me how to tune my own car, or to road tune. but I appreciate the info on this. Its stupid to buy something that cant help you that much.
