hey guys. i have a few question about tunning. dont know a lot of it so ur input will really help. i have a ecu reflash from vishnu, now i have heard that vishnu has a password that locks the ecu so no one can tamper with it and what not. but my question is if i buy a piggy back like the turbo xs utec will that lock still come up when i go get it tuned???... like i said i dnt know alot about tunning so i dnt know if it will or not???....

p.s on a side not has anyone heard of eip??... one of my close friends said that they were really good in tunning on evosand sti's and they are from san jose california. i have never heard from them so any info on the will really help thanks.

*sigh* You don't want a piggyback, and you certainly don't want the UTEC. Vishnu does not like the ECU - they use EcuTek for flashes, and EcuTek locks the ECU. You chose to pay a ton for a Vishnu EcuTek flash, so that's your own deal. Other people use EcuFlash, which costs way less, and it does not lock the ECU. That's all you should be worrying about. It would be a huge mistake to randomly get a UTEC (or any other piggyback).

The only EIP I know if is a Volkswagen shop.

Vishnu is way over priced.

The UTEC was a great device... WAS. They can't give those things away now.

No, but they are useless, and TurboXS doesn't support them anymore for the Evo.

Hehe, there's a new vendor over on that "other" site that didn't bother to do his research, bought a ton of UTEC's and has been trying to sell them for the last month or so. He hasn't sold a single one.

Poor guy probably has 20 of the things sucking up space in a closet somewhere.

THe utec is not by any means useless, nor has it been discontinued, but those of us still using it ask ourselves why? Turboxs, after a couple of years of promising software updates allowing more features, simply stopped supporting the Evo version of it. A new model of it has been released for the Subaru's with many of the features promised to the old version's users. We MIGHT see it for the evo after many moons or so, but the evo community is somewhat fed up with the empty promises of Turboxs.
