Surging

My 06 MR has a tendency to surge. If I am hard on it, when I lift off the gas the rpms go up 2-300. What could be causing this? Vaccuum leak was my first guess but I cannot find one anywhere. Not even sure if this is the right forum area....but has nothing to do with bolt ons and not sure if its a newb question. Thanks-

ok....I think I found part of the problem. It seems to many problems. The geniuses where I got my car were taking it on test drives with no air filter appartently. So, after inspecting and cleaning my MAF, and noticing some shaft play in my turbo, I also noticed the stock boost controller had a broken fitting on it and the pressure fitting on the turbo was capped. My BOV also seems to not be opening at all under a vacuum.

So...A: what should the settings on a Greddy Profec B be for a stock car save full 3" turbo back?
And B: is the plastic (it is plastic) BOV open with a normal vacuum tester like EVERY other BOV?

someone has modded that car take it to someone who knows what they are doing and have them look over it. the revving after you let off is commenly known as throttle hang, happens more on the IX's. if not i would def fix your issues and get a real evo IX BOV. you need to set the profec up to your mods, boost level and tune....your stock boost controller soleniod should not be a issue since you have a profec. alo a BOV should not open under vaccum, but open when you let out of boost. Take your car and get it running correctly before you start tweaking it or just throwing parts at it.

Do you have a real boost gauge or are you just going by the profec reading?
