hey, my name is Tony and i am new to this site. Honestly i am purely a truck guy, im going to be a diesel technician, i don't really like cars at all, except the EVO. i want to get a EVO but i just want a little info on them. I think i want like an 03-06. an evo 8 or 9. i'd just like to know some basic info on them as far as mileage and power and stuff. i would do some modifications and everything but i don't think anything crazy. sorry for the kind of long intro but hopefully you guys can persuade me to get one !

Well the main difference between the evo 8 and 9 is the evo 9 has mivec which is mitsubishi's version of vtec, only on the intake cam though. If stock you will be putting around 230hp and tq to the wheels. With intake, exhuast, fuel pump, a tune and other bolt-ons you will have a good 300hp car for the streets. Don't forget any mod you make you will want to reflash your ecu to get the moset from your mods. Mileage is upto how you drive the car, if your in boost the entire time well your going to get shit for mpg but on a road trip I made I had about 22mpg I do however have an mr which has a 6-speed manual instead of the rs or gsr 5-speed. I don't recommend the mr for the fact that one day the transmission will go out (4th is weak). The evo is a fun car and ask anyone that drives one and you'll hear parises being sung about this car. If you want anymore info don't be afaid to ask because we were all noobs at one point in time. Hope this helps.

in addition to mivec you get a better turbo and larger cooling ports in the head, which equals about 40 more wheel hp with basic boltons then a evo 8. I get anywhere from 22-28mpg depending on how i drive.

hey thanks for all the great help guys. I am planning on spending right around 20,000$. I should be able to get a fairly low mileage one for that price right? I think it would be most wise to try and find a stock one or atleast one someone has taken care of

Yeah you can find one for that or less, just shop around first and take your time. Un-moded is best but if it's been lightly moded one I would consider it if correctly tuned for current mods. Ask questions. Good luck.
