It's been a while...

13,495 new posts since last visit. I've learned alot, been through alot, and spent alot on my Evo 8 since i bought it.
Here's my intro thread, and it turned out to be the clutch. The flywheel was scorched as well, and of course the dealership didn't have the specs to turn it. So, my car was sitting on the lift with a brand new ACT clutch waiting for a new flywheel which they just so happened to have in stock for you know, 300 something dollars. Good news for me is that they did the work while pulling the tranny for a oil seal replacement under warranty. So, a little under 1k in parts, with 0 labor costs. Did i know the flywheel would have to be turned when replacing the clutch, yes. Was the possibility of the dealership not being able to do it cross my mind, no. I learned my lesson the hard way, and i sure wish i had posted before i actually bought an Evo. Oh well, live and learn. Latz.

Well, if it makes you feel better, the deal had no specs because there are no specs - it's not supposed to be shaved. People do it, yes, but it's not designed to be. It's best to go with a new one anyway, ESPECIALLY if it's scorched. The hotspots may go further down than you could shave anyway...

Oh, good to know. Still, i'd rather have spent the money on an after market flywheel than over 300 on a stocker.

Oh yeah, but couldn't you have done that - get an aftermarket one? Same thing happened to me where I didn't know the deal with the flywheel until the trans was off the car at the dealer. I had one overnighted...

They told me since the car was occupying a lift that i would have to pay the $70 an hour labor cost until the flywheel got there.
