Aggressive horn

After nearly being sideswiped the other day by some clueless soul with a handicapped sticker, I'm seriously considering upgrading my horn. I only use it when I really need to warn other drivers of my presence, and this time the stock part didn't do its job.

I'm considering going with a Hella horn that hits ~118dBs (A-weighted) at a frequency range sensitive to the human ear. It's no nearly as tinny-sounding as stock, either. I'll most likely paint its red cover black, as not to stand out.

Has anyone replaced his horn and what did you get?

Any recommendations as to which paint to use?

A lot of Subaru owners have these. I think they look hideous on their cars but if there are more retarded drivers in your area than mine then go for it.

Hi, Jared. I didn't know this horn was popular in the Subaru camp. I agree; the red would look out of place. I'll be painting the red surround black, so the horn won't be visible. Do you have any recommendations as to which paint to use?

Since the subaru kids mount them in the grill any paint that can withstand a pressure washer should do. Not sure where you'll mount yours but anywhere near hot engine parts would obviously call for some type of hi-temp paint.

I'll be mounting mine in the stock location. To be honest, mounting it anywhere else never occurred to me. I'll look into high temp paint. Is there a preferred brand?
