My audio system is all stock except the head unit. If I do the audio system I'm going all out. I've searched all around and I haven't found anything on this. Has anyone put speakers in the rear doors of the Evo ix's? Is there room in the door for preferably 6 1/2's?

I dont think there is room for a good size 6.5" speaker in the rear door? is your evo a show car or you just like having a lot of sound? the stock speakers are oversized 6.5" so you need an adapter bracket.

"oversized 6.5?" I don't understand. Forums say that the stock speakers in evo IX's are 6-1/2's all the way around. Crutchfield says that 5-1/4 - 6-3/4 speakers fit all the way around. ??? That's a big difference. I picked 6-1/2 size just for round numbers. The rear door looks like it has room for a speaker, that's why im asking. The vehicle is not a show car, or race car. It's a daily driver/toy, and im and audio quality snob

i would just leave the rear speakers on the rear deck instead of redoing all the wiring and cutting the door panels just for a good 6.5" speaker to fit, you may also run into problems with the window hitting the speaker in the rear.

Mitsu has been using oversized 6.5" speakers for awhile now. so your standard 6.5" will not fit without speaker adapter rings. they can be had for about $10 a set check ebay. last time there was only one guy on there who was selling them, they work great. If you think your 6.5's will fit without them I say pull a rear deck speaker and set a aftermarket 6.5" in the hole. it will fall right through, I have checked it out. I think the 6.75" speakers are harder to find and they are slighty to big to fit. Hope the info helps!
