Question starter noise

hey just put a evo 5 engine into my 4. when starting the car the starter makes a really bad noise when disengaging like its not disengaging straight away. i thought that in mite be diffrent teeth on the five flywheel so i got a five starter and its still no better . the battery on the car seems really small could this be the problem or has any one had the same fault and fixed it?

Do the evos have starter plates like dsms do? If starter is good then try shimming it like the older gms. If you dont shim properlly the older gms they will make all sort of noises so thats i geuss what you should try. other then that change the started again and see if it goes awey. maybe you got the 2 starters with bad solenoids. I dont think so but its a possibility.
