Thumbs up AMS EVO X Engineering Thread...New parts for the EVO X

In addition to all the tests we are going to be doing on the EVO X I am starting this thread to outline the products as we make them available. Here you will see how an AMS product goes from Idea to a power producing part on your car.

Everyone knows AMS products are some of the best out there (if not them shame on you) and now you have the opportunity to see why.

So keep your eye on this thread as we bring you all kinds of goodies for the EVO X.

I will start this off by showing you some of our prototype FMIC Pics. This will be a plug and play piece and should give your new X a good kick in the pants for performance.

As we finalize this product I will post up some dyno numbers and some build pictures to show the detail that goes into our product.

On with the pics:

This is just the start. Things we are already working on are:

Turboback exhaust
Front motor mount (almost done)
FMIC (75% done)
Intake System
and of course..... a turbo kit

There are bunch others but we can't give everything away

These guys busted some ass over the weekend. They have some parts finalized and a bunch more almost done.

FMIC
Upper Pipe/ Hot-pipe
Front Motor mount
Single tip / race style Exhaust.

Here are some new pics to gander at.

First the Front Mount IC is done and Finalized. A release on this piece will be coming very soon

We have plenty of cores in stock ready to make tanks.

The Front Motor Motor mount insert to replace the sloppy stock unit. These are almost ready to be released

Next the AMS Single Tip Catback Exhaust. We will be making a twin tip but we wanted to release a lightweight Race trim version for those guys that are looking to shed some unwanted weight and put a nice free flowing version on the car. take a look at how unrestrictive this piece is. I actually like the angle tip too.

Please keep in mind this is a prototype piece and might not completely reflect the final catback we choose to release.

Lastly on the slate and just about ready to sell is the Lower Intercooler pipe (which is now the upper on the X). The stock piece was pretty well made but we did see some small room for improvement. If for no other reason to add a little flair to the engine bay.

There ya have it. these guys have been pretty busy here the past few days. These parts should be finalized soon along with some dyno testing and a slew of other new parts!

Just finished up fitting of the small battery kit. The stock battery weighs 34.5lbs, our lightweight battery comes in at 14.5lbs, that's a 20lbs weight savings.

The kit with the battery will be $149.95
The Tiedown itself $29.95

Awesome!

1) What is that canister at the beginning of the cat-back?
2) Where is that battery located? Is that the trunk?
3) Is that a slip-in motor mount? Is it like the 8/9 where you have to pry, tear, or press out the stock bushing and just slip in the new one?

1) Resonator
2) Yes, it comes stock in the trunk.
3) Yes it's a slip in, we will sell them already pressed in.

OK guys... the wait is over. Not only have we tested all the parts we have made so far but we have now made an astonishing 87WHP OVER STOCK!!!!!

This first chart is showing our EVO X stock compared to it with our Manual boost controller and MAF pipe / Intake pipe. You can clearly see that the gains are AWESOME!!! 45WHP from just a MAF pipe and a boost controller.

Boost was set to 22 psi and tapered to 16-17

Next on the list of parts tested was the AMS race series Catback exhaust. Again nothing was changed from above except the addition of the AMS catback. So the parts on the car up to this point are:

AMS MAF intake pipe
AMS boost controller
AMS Race series Catback Exhuast

Another 15 WHP Gain!!!!!

Here is a direct comparison between the Intake pipe and MBC and now with the addition of the catback

And now all three parts Vs Stock. This would be close to a stage 1 kit for a customer

Now we add another AMS product to the party. Its time to add a Test pipe to the mix. So now we are up to:

AMS MAF INTAKE PIPE
AMS Boost Controller
AMS Catback
AMS Test pipe

15 WHP GAIN!!!!! just from a test pipe!

Here are the previous parts compared with the addition of the test pipe:

And now everything up to this point compared to stock:

We are not done yet. How about we add on An AMS Front Mount intercooler. So now we have the following on the car

AMS MAF INTAKE PIPE
AMS Boost Controller
AMS Catback
AMS Test pipe
AMS Front Mount Intercooler

Another 10 WHP!!!!!

Not only did it pick up 10whp but the stock core would lose 5hp between pulls. The AMS FMIC keep the runs very consistent, fluctuating only a couple HP between pulls.

Here is a chart comparing all previous mods to the newly added FMIC:

And again all mods to this point Vs Stock.... amazing!

And last but not least is the AMS upper IC pipe. To be honest when we looked at the stock piece we all assumed this would be a strictly aesthetic piece and no real HP was to be made. Sometimes its good to be proven wrong.

The AMS Upper IC pipe for the EVO X not only picked up 5 more peak Whp peak but it made more power everywhere and as much as 10WHP in the MIDRANGE!!!!

So now to date we have:

AMS MAF INTAKE PIPE
AMS Boost Controller
AMS Catback
AMS Test Pipe
AMS FMIC
AMS Upper IC pipe

A pretty basic list of parts that is making 87 WHP OVER STOCK

So here we have all parts previous compared to the addition of the Upper IC pipe

And now the final Chart... the one we have been talking about here at the shop all day

Stock Vs the parts on the car now

87 WHP GAIN!

AND STILL STOCK (but safe) UNTUNED ECU!!!!

I Think its safe to say the EVO X is earning it colors nicely. Based on this I would have no problem picking one up myself.

Yea I want to see if you are matching the tourqe curve or are you just going for power. Also are you flashing it yet or is this just bolting it on and going?

BamBam, he said this is without tuning. There's no way for them to "flash" it yet. These are amazing gains for no tuning and pretty much normal pump gas boost levels, although we may find that it can't make much more, because of the small turbo and being unable to run much higher boost.

Great job here, but it would be great if these were showing RPM on the X-axis.

While the horsepower numbers are impressive can we get the torque as well? And +1 on the RPM scaling instead of speed.

Also with the new cam on valve design does this bode well or bad for aggressive cam development?
