So my service engine soon light came on today. My friend ran a scan on it and it is my O2 sensor. I have a high flow cat why would I be getting this issue? I went with a cat and not a test pipe so I wouldn't have to deal with this problem. What do you think that I should do?
Well, if the hfc is giving you this problem, then you should probably pick up a tp and an anti-fouler plug for your O2 sensor. Then have your friend erase the code, and have your tuner retune your EVO for the tp.
So I put this in before the rear O2 sensor and that should fix it then? Is this the same thing that I would use for the TP as well? I will be getting a TP for free from my brother but not for about a month or so.
okay great That is what I am going to do then. I tried to have him clear the code but he couldnt will evoscan do it? I will buy the TP and anti fouler plug. Thanks guys
you should be able to clear the code by disconnecting the battery for a min. or two if the code doesn't go away you may have a fried O2 sensor. hope that helps
You don't need to waste the money on a test pipe if you don't want to. You can buy a pair of spark plug anti-foulers and pull your O2 probe out of the exhaust stream to eliminate the "catalyzer inefficiency" code.
There shouldn't be, but you can check beforehand based on the angle of the O2 sensor's position. Just take a ruler or something to see if the additional length of the anti-fouler plug will give you a problem. If the hfc you bought was made specifically for the EVO, then you shouldn't have a problem - my tp from the Tanabe exhaust sys was made specifically for the EVO, so I didn't have any clearance issue with mine.
go on ebay and order you a cel simulator. its about 20 bucks shipped.
