Brake cooling

Anyone have any suggestions for the best and least expensive way to cool front brakes in my 2006 Evo? I use it for some High Speed Touring and the brakes overheat pretty quickly. I see that Mitsubishi sells brake cooling ducts that force under carriage air flow outwards to the calipers ($125). Would that suffice if I also removed the brake backing plates? I've thought about trying to add some electric brake cooling fans, as I have an oversize intercooler which blocks the stock brake duct holes in the front bumper. Any ideas out there??
