Anyone plan on a turbo upgrade?

Just curious to see if anyone plans on ever upgrading there turbo to see what they plan on getting. I am trying to follow all of the turbo kits that are out. I was really leaning towards RnR's GT30R kit. I decided to wait to see some really results on a few cars before I decide. I am sure that I will go with the GT30R turbo, "but what kit?", I'm not sure yet.

Here is some pics of RnR's GT35R kit. I know Ryan has made 497whp at 24psi with race fuel on it.

Close up of the manifold. The welds are very nice. It will also come jet hot coated and I believe he has a lifetime warranty on them now!! :thumb:

no, if the stock turbo has run deep into the 11's I wouldn't bother with a upgrade...at least not for a long time. I'm sure that manifold gets real hot...and hopefully it won't cook stuff under the hood. Probably have to wrap it to keep it from doing so. It looks really nice though.

If I was ever going to upgrade I would probably be looking at a version of a 50trim...like the FP3052...thats what I was planning for my Eclipse but then I decided I didn't want the car.

I would just be worring about that manifold and all the heat from it.
Yeah that's something that I didn't consider. Heat wrapping is a must. I know that alot of the turbo kits do not come with a heat shield. The JIC mani for the stock turbo doesn't either and they heat up quick. It would also be good to protect the mani also from getting wet when it's really hot.

Where can I find some info on that turbo you were going to get for your DSM?
I am probably going with the Buschur Racing upgraded turbo for my EVO. The only real question in my mind is do I want the BR500 or the BR580 for my car....

right there...right now it looks like its only for the DSM, but I'm sure FP will start making it for the EVO soon...especially if people call them and bug them.

The thing about Forced Performance is that there quality is impecable. They made the Green turbo, and that proved to be (in my opinion and also many others) the best street turbo around. It was a 50trim that spooled pretty quick and wasn't too hard to tune.

The FP3052 is there "new" green basically. But with more technology, thought, and time put into it...
I have heard lots of good things about FP from the dsm side. I will have to consider them also. Thanks for the info. :thumb:

If I was going to get a turbo kit I would get Buschur's manifold and then do a 50 trim (Green) or the FP3052. I am not to sure what housing would bolt up the the Buschur's maniflod. But if it was a true t3 bolt pattern I would then put togeather my own turbo to my wheel specs. I just do not like the Idea the you get a BR500 or BR580 and so not really know what it is.
As we have seen from the DSM world that the 50 trims LOVE pump Gas!!
(Also the GT 35R loves pump gas too as long as it has the BIg turbin wheel in it)
hmm...ya if that would work that would be sweet...only thing I question is that the turbo is turned around the other way (turbine left, compressor right...instead of the opposite), but I'm sure if we wait longer and bug FP they will come out with a nice turbo for the Evo that will bolt right up to stock mani, and maybe even be twin scroll.

I told Tym about my previous setup on the GVR-4 (Frank 3 with TD06 wheel and 10 deg clip) and that I wouldn't mind going a bit bigger... he said I would need to BR 580. So, sounds like the BR 500 is about the same as a Frank 3, and the 580 is bigger.
