As dxbtube mentioned, automatic car washes aren't very good for the paint. There are two schools of thought when it comes to Winter washing: washing the salt and debris off the car as often as possible and not washing the car at all, as the water will melt the road salt and cause it to interact with the metal quicker. Over the years I've tried both with identically poor results.

so i guess us winter guys are just screwed anyway you look at it?
Yes, pretty much, unless the plow folks use sand instead of salt. I'm storing my Evo for this very reason. I'm going to wait until the first salt run, wash the car and store it under a cover in the garage. I hope to make it to Thanksgiving.

Cleaning the car requires responsibility, but removing the resin from the body after cleaning requires even more responsibility, because not everywhere you can just spray and wipe off the resin with WD-40. It's good that in the article How to get tree sap off car paint | Best method to remove tree sap from car paint and windows gave me great advice on how to remove tar stains from a car. I usually use vinegar with water or alcohol, but when I got a good steam cleaner, removing the resin became very simple and effective.
