Has anyone ever heard of dealers marking up MR's? I have been told that some owners have paid 3-5 k over sticker for their car for being "rare." This for the 2005 (i heard there were only 1000 made). Oh and i was wondering if there were limited numbers on the 06's as well.

The dealers mark up everything they can, and yes some people do pay the $5K mark up. That makes it hard to talk down the price because they can blow you off and the next sucker that comes in the door will pay it.
I don't know about the production numbers.

At my dealership we are selling the MR's for MSRP because it's a limited production car. We are a no haggle no hassle dealership. We don't mark up any cars, Regular cars that aren't limited go for around $300-400 over the factory invoice. I have heard of dealers jacking the price up but 5k more, I would tell them where to go.

thanks for the info, i was wondering because i bought mine in a hurry so they upped the price a little, but i wouldn't take delivery unless they installed tint and upgrade the seats with custom leather. so i guess it balances out to the msrp.

You guys are definitely marking up your cars if your charging MSRP. I just bought my 05 GSR with the ssl package about a month ago. Granted its an 05 but it was one of the few last brand new 05's in existance. It took me a good amount of time to shop around and find a good dealer. No matter what dealer I went to I could have them order the same car. Anyways I bought one from the dealer in the town next to me. It was last 05 they were going to have and it was sitting on the showroom floor. MSRP is around 34,500 and I only received 1k in rebates. In the end I was able to snag one for 29k. They barely made any money off of me because there was almost 0 mark up at that price. The owner of the dealership was upset but he told me that even thought i'm getting my car for a good price, he knew I'll waste all my money in the parts and service shop later on when I void my warranty. Either way I thought I definitely thought I came out on top. It ain't no MR but atleast it got as much luxoury as an Evo can get. :thumb:

Nah, man, that doesn't mean he's marking up anything. They are just charging MSRP. That's what they're supposed to sell the car for. A mark-up would be additional cost ABOVE MSRP, and believe me, that DOES happen. Anyway, you're talking about a car that's already a year old when you bought it. YOu wouldn't have gotten it for that much in late 2004.

SicLanEvo, the only mistake with your dealership is that the IX MRs are not limited production; only the VIII MR is, so if you're using that as an excuse or a selling point, it is false. The VIII MR only had 1200 units made worldwide with 1000 of them being sold in the US. The IX MR is just a marketing gig for the US - there is no official MR for the IX - they just call it that over here unlike the 2005 VIII MR, which was a legitimate MR edition worldwide.
