on one of the dms sites i found some one posted info on the MR about it being tested and run in the 1/4 and in a mag the spec that were posted were
285 hp
295 tq
~3080 lbs
6spd
0-60 = 4.3
1/4 = 12.9 @ 108(?)
have any of you seen what mag it is in. I tried doing a quick google but didn't find anything i would to see if these specs are true or not. Also i hear there is rumor about the evo MR is being considered for the US, I know we get the striped down light weight model this year but from what is being said the MR might come here for a limited also in the US. Any one hear anything about this?

Here is a thread that has an article about the elusive EVO MR that I pulled off another site: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/i=wMzI2Mzc5NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE=.jpg Was working yesterday but is down at the moment; hopefully will be fixed later on. The MR is a sweet ride, but don't count on them bringing it over in that form: US crash safety requirements, fuel efficiency and emissions standards will no doubt water-down the version we get here( if Mitsu brings it over ). Stay tuned...
i will check the site latter to see if it is up. Does it state where the specs came from and if they are true? I would like to belive the specs to be true they seem like they could be.

I think the specs are accurate. They will be the target numbers for the US-spec EVO9.
man i need to get a better job so i can offord one you know any place hiring chris lol. It will be nice. I hope the evo 9 goes back to the big fog lights. I am trying to find a site that has the specs on it. as of now it seems like its all hear say with people saying it stated some place.
The following links to the 'Road & Track' EVO MR write-up article are working again. I must apologize as I initially only posted the link to the 2nd page of the article... Here are the links to all the pages in the article:

Enjoy! And yes, start saving yo money...
those specs sound good and right.

and a goal for the EVO IX...I would hope and think they would keep it < or equal to 276hp since that is the "limit" on Japan cars and the limit in the WRC cars right. Or is the limit in WRC 300...I kinda like that the overbuild the car to make a ton of power than tune it down to make 276 within regulations, to keep the cars more "equal" even though you just do a couple mods and unleash the beast.

I'm sure the MR has more differentials too...and I'm lovin that 6spd
Thanks man. Hmm after reading that one thing cought my mind the car comes with a biger turbo? Does any one know what kind it is the article didn't state? judging by how the boost came it i don't think it could be a 20G but maybe a 18G?
I don't know why they'd bother with the 18g...it's really not that good of a turbo. I might assume it has a version of the 20g on it. Dual Wastegate actuators... and other stuff. I bet it probably is a 20G just running lower boost. maybe like 14 or 15...

And damn...after reading that...and them saying it'll probably be here by the end of the year. I feel like waiting for it...

My bet would be another twin scroll 16G that has a bigger freer flowing exhaust housing. They used this turbo on previouse EVO's to good effect.

Keith
It's a TD05 16G, not sure which turbine size.

The Evo 8 MR will be available before November 2004 in LHD. I might just get one. :D

This car is Japanese specification and will not be road legal in the USA... a bit like the Evo 7s... :p

(1310 kg dry weight ;))

wait...why won't it be able to come to the US...magazines, like road and track, are expecting that it will come here.

Maybe they will have to make it a little heavier, reinforce some stuff here and there...but how hard will it be to get them for domestic sale over here?

I don't know. It shoudln't be to hard the NSX has an all aluminum (sp) body on it. I know they will have to change the bumpers we have higher standords I think it wouldn't be to hard to get it here. Man i need to win the lotto so i can i buy one:D
