I'm planning on getting a turbo back exhaust for my first modification and would like to hear feedback from those of you who have aftermarket exhausts. Just wondering about gains both dyno'd or butt dyno'd, fit (i've seen some pictures where the mufflers coming out at a angle, no me gusta), sound, any snags with install, etc. If anyone has any soundclips that would be great, I have a 3" turbo back with test pipe on my eclipse and it's still pretty quiet and i'm wondering if the evo is about the same. Thanks in advance.

You're definetly gonna get some noise pick up. Your next mod should be an s-afc. Thats where you are going to see your biggest gains for the money besides an MBC. You'll see a little gain, but a lot more with an s-afc installed afterwards.
For exhuast, I currently run a SS o2 housing, 3" DP, and custom DP back, no cat no resonator and no muffler, she has a nice burble at idle and really sounds mean as hell when I'm under boost.

I already ganked the S-AFCII, tt, 680cc injectors, turboxs mbc) wheels, and a few other items out of my eclipse to be put in my EVO since I'm selling the eclipse and will lose money no matter what it has in it. I'm just waiting to get the wiring harnesses as i'd like to be able to take everything out real quick like if it needs warranty work in the future. I was going to get the vishnu stage 1, but it looks like i can get the same power levels from minor bolt ons (intake, exhaust, ic, tuning) and a afc, which although would require a little effort to return to stock, beats the hell out of removing all that stuff and cams.

If your coming from a modded DSM, you know what your doing.
As far as exhausts, my BR 2.5 DP was a bitch to install. It has a slip fit at the O2 housing that was a royal pain in the a$$ for me and my buddy. However it did produce a very noticable difference on the butt-dyno. More difference than the test pipe and cat-back. The stock DP is a real piece of nonflowing sh!t. All BR DP's are this slip fit so be aware. If I had to do it again I'd get a 2.75 in. DP (I don't want to mess with tie bar spacers) that uses the stock doughnut.
My Evo is way louder than my Eclipse, but I have no resonators while the Eclipse had two.

I imagine when you put the down pipe in it "uncorked" the rest of your exhaust and allowed you to utilize all that inner diameter from the cat back. I don't know why but my eclipse is just amazingly quiet, it was quiet when it was stock and although it's a little louder now (ported everything, EvoIII turbo, and basically a straight 3" mandrel bent pipe all the way to the 3" through muffler). I expected it to sound, well, "different". It has a low grumble and you can feel it rather than hear it coming when it's down the street. I don't know, it's just weird.

I really like the Injen exhaust systems. The fit is excellent and the sound is quieter than most of the other exhausts out there.

I would suggest the Megan 3" TBE (contact Zeus on EvoM) or Logic Performance 3" TBE (contact TalonRcR on EvoM) for $600 (or less).

Is the megan racing 3" all the way through? From the pictures ive seen it looked like it had a smaller I.D. without the silencer on. Doe's anyone have this system? For the price it seems like a pretty good deal.
It's supposed to be full 3" with no tapering at any point. Talk to Zeus to verify...I don't see much reason to buy any other exhaust. It baffles me how people pay $800 for a titanium cat-back instead of $600 for a full TBE...

I know tanabe started offering tbe exhausts as a kit on the cheap. Cheap for being a japanese brand anyways. Yeah if youve had a dsm just follow the same mod path, its not much difference. If you want a quiet exhaust look for one that has resonators in the bpipe.
