GT35R at the drag strip (low boost)

Made it out to the track last night with my GT35R setup. Right off the street running 22 psi on 93 octane pump gas I was able to trap 111.69 I then put in some 105 unleaded and started raising the boost. Found out that even with my plugs gapped down to .023 I get ignition issues at 25 psi. My best "clean" run I had a trap speed of 116.79 This is my daily driver, and I spent my cash reserves on the turbo kit so I don't have money to replace the drive train parts if I break them, so I don't launch the car like I used to launch my Galant VR-4... (broke axles etc in that one). My best 60' was slipping the clutch from 6,000 which gave me front end juddering from the open front diff letting me get single wheel spin and wheel hop. With a 2.048 60' (best of the night) I ran 12.613 @ 116.79 at 24.5 psi of boost.

Later,

Keith

PS: All runs were full weight, spare tire, jack, laptop, and my fat A$$ behind the wheel :D

good traps considering the 60' and sacrificing the launch. I ran 118 at 12.0 on my gsx with a 1.6 60' so 117 is moving pretty good for 2.0 60'. what kind of times were you getting on your vr4?
Best I ran in the GVR-4 was a 12.8 at 108. I was making around 350 wheel HP in that car (367 to the front wheels on a 2WD dynojet). With the EVO and 117 mph traps if I can get my 60' down I should be mid to high 11's at that trap speed. As soon as Buschur Racing gets their dyno installed I will get my alcohol injection kit hooked up, and I should be able to run 25 psi of boost with 93 octane pump gas. That should get me as much or more power as I was making at the strip on Friday night :D

Later,

Keith
if you don't have cams, you right in line. But if you do, you need some tuning. A cammed Pump gas Evo properly tuned properly with that turbo will trap above 122MPH. Race gas will get you about 133-138, but that's the tippy top.
