Immobilizer question

Does anyone know if an 03 evo ecu will work in an eclipse with the eclipse immobilizer and key? I added a turbo to my spyder and just got a deal on an evo ecu there both 03 models. I do know that the factory wiring harnesses are the same on the eclipse and evo.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think you may be asking for a lot of trouble by putting the evo ECU on a eclipse, yes it may be turbo but it's designed for the evo 4G63 not you 3g eclipse motor.

Just by the remark "your 3g eclipse motor" I can tell you have no clue what motor is in an eclipse. It's a 4g64 which alot of evo guys are running now. In order to make alot of power and still pass obd II I'm going with the evo ecu and emanage for now maybe a flash or aftermarket ecu in the fuuture. Back to my original question the evo and eclipse share the same wiring harness all I'm asking is if the immobilizer is also the same or compatible.
Well, you didn't say you had the 4cyl version. He probably assumed you had the V6. I still don't see how an Evo ECU could work in a 3g just because you've added a turbo. Evo's can't even use the ECU from another Evo because of the immobilizer, so I don't know how a 3g Eclipse would...
your right i didn't know what motor is in your eclipse, it could be the 4cyl or the V6, since you said it's the 4G64 it would be the 4 cyl. The evo motor is a 4G63 which is a different motor then yours, it has different injectors, it's a SOHC, and it's just a completely different motor! The Evo ECU will do you know good because the fuel maps will be for the bigger injectors, timing maps will be for the DOHC 4G63. I sell Mitsubishis and I'm not new to them in any way. This would be like swapping a Evo ECU in a lancer ES. As far as compatability with the Immbolizer, I think it will be the same problem that warrtalon talked about, you cannot swap ECUs from evo to evo because of it, The same should hold true to any Mitsubishi with the Immbolizer. please let us know how it works out.

EDIT sorry about the name buthering, I was actually typeing a email to one of my customers with that last name at the same time. lol. Once again sorry about that.
Holy crap, "warrlington"!!! That's the worst butchering I've seen yet, haha. Hopefully, that was on purpose, but if not, remember that my name has the word "Talon" in it, as in...Eagle Talon...DSM...etc. Once you recognize "Talon," then it's easy to remember WARR TALON!
I'm running 450 cc injectors now my car came with 240cc injectors the emanage has a +150% limit over the stock injectors so with an evo ecu I can use over 1000cc injectors. As for evos using evo ecu's what the hell do you think, theres only 1 ecu per car. What if it breaks? Mitsu can initialize and set the key, immobilizer and ecu to the same code so it will start you just need the mut-III. But I still need to know if the immobilizers are the same. As far as the sohc yeah I know but it has the same CAS as an evo and I'll be swapping to the evo head soon and the maps are going to be alot closer to correct than the eclipse ecu with a 16g @15psi.

I'm not saying in anyway that it can't be done, but if you don't want your precious project to go up in one big bang you might want to reconsider the evo ecu. If your so hardcore and want 15psi, why aren't you looking into a Stand alone? That way you can control everything. you have spent a lot of money I'm guessing and before it all goes to waste you should really weigh your options. What the hell I was thinking was that why would someone spend that money on a what sounds like a good project just to screw it up in the end? It may be just me but if i had that money invested I would want to do it right the first time, not after i have to rebuild it a second time. Well good luck with it, i'm not trying to be a jerk I just don't want to see a good project go up in smoke. Please keep us posted once you get it running. i would also like to see some pics, i think it's a awesome Idea.
To really know if the immobilizers are compatable you need to contact a Mitsubishi Mater Tech.

I wish I knew one heh. I did find they have 2 different part numbers so I'm buying the immobilizer and key from the same car. The whole reason I'm swapping ecu's is the injector sizing and the fact that I can get a flash for the evo ecu and pass emissions. Evo has 560cc stock emanage can control up to 150% the size of stock injectors.

Swing by the dealer. Ask them if this ecu swap is good enough for emmissions too.
Are you sure about that control cabability?
Mitsu ecu's don't report vin number so as long as the obd II says all ok it will pass emmissions
you'd be much better suited by getting a universal aem ems for your sick3g as I don't think AEM makes one specific to your application.
I'm assuming this guy was/is planning to run an Evo 8 ECU.

I have a related (and quite basic) question. Sorry for the thread bump, but I didn't feel this warranted a new thread.

Anyway, the question is this: Does the EVO 8 have a separate immobilizer unit, or is it integrated into the ECU? ...What about the IX?
