Megan Racing vs Buschur Racing

Hey guys, I am debating wether I should go with the 3" Megan Racing turbo back, or the Buschur Racing 3" turbo back. Now, between the 2, I could save about $170 or so if I go with the Megan, but nwo that I have the EVO, I want to do things right, so the money isnt the big decider. I am more interested in power gains and sound than anything. Can anyone chime in on this? Or possibly even know where I could find some numbers from actual testing? Thanks in advance guys!!

The power differences are not going to be that drastic. The difference between the two systems are going to resemble the same power differences between two Evos. If your really interested in power gains; then it's going come from fuel tuning that exploits the flow capabilites a 3 inch exhaust. Look for the one with minimal bends (mandrel of course) and carries the same diameter through out (doesn't neck down at the cat).
I have a B.R. downpipe, but it's the 2.5in. It looks like it has the same slip fit to the O2 housing and it was a real bitch to install. It's accually coming off tomorrow in favor of a 3 inch downpipe that utilizes the stock doughnut and springed bolts. I also have just a Magnaflow muffler, which has a good tone, but it's a little loud.
I figured that much, although this is my first EVO..I have already been through a few DSMs..lol I looked into the Megan, they clearly say that the downpipe is mandrel bent, but only say "smooth bends" on the turbo back. Also, does anyone know where I may find a sound clip (not that they are the best thing to go by) of a Megan, I ahve already heard the two different BR ones.
Megan is the best value available, is ss polished, looks better, sounds better and so on... We use Megan products.
Well Im sold...just need to get rid of a few more things from my talon, then I am going to order that, the MR bov, dual column gauge pod, and a K&N drop in. Thanks guys!

I recommend a steering column pod. Pillar pods are pretty ghey nowadays...they got outdated a while back. I remember having one on my first modded Talon back in 1997, and it was cool shiz, but now it's just a calling card that ricers use to say, "HEY LOOK, I'M MODDED!" There's nothing really wrong with them, but steering column pods and center console pods are more my style...

I'm assuming that you are transferring an MBC from the Talon to the Evo, since you didn't list one. All you need in addition to that list a tune of some sort. DSM95Hybrid can help you with that (Jestr Tuning flash), or you can go with others that also work well (Dynoflash, TurboTrix, or any piggyback you may prefer).
Same thoughts I had, plus I dont really want to screw with the tweeter in the pillar, thats why I decided on the dual column pod. Just walking by a car its an advertisement for someone to just screw with it. Speaking of which, does anyone else sell the dual column pod besides Buschur? I looked around, but didnt seem to fiand anyone else.

As for the mbc, I did keep the TurboXS mbc from my talon, just not quite sure when I want to install it..lol As for the flash, I had planned on possibly taking a trip to Turbotrix, or even having them dynoflash the ecu and shipping it back.

TurboTrix is great, and I'm sure you're familiar with Jeff Hill, since you're a DSM'r, but I would think Dynoflash would be much more convenient, since they're in Connecticut. You could get a custom dyno tune at Pruven Performance at the hands of Al (Dynoflash). If you do a mail-in, there's nothing wrong with using TT.

Hopefully, the TXS MBC works fine for you on the Evo. It is considered the worst possible MBC on Evos currently, but you may have an older/different version that works fine.

Whay? Whats the issues with the TurboXS one? Mine for the record is an older one...at least couple of years old.

I am going to have to disagree the bushur system has better fitment, quality, sound, and looks the megan ever hoped to. Power gains one to another are not enough to notice, price for megan is about 2/3 the price of the bushur, but you get what you pay for.

I don't think there is any lack of quality, unless you consider 12.000 with stock cams and 11.75 on the stock turbo to be lacking.

I have never used the Megan system myself, so I have no basis for comparison.

The guy you are quoteing said the power difference was negligable, so why are you re-stating that?

Because he said there was a big difference in quality, and I don't know how that is measured. The BR products are good quality, but are purpose-built with no frills. I think that's awesome, but the Megan has no lack of quality. The way I measure quality is in how it performs and holds up to extreme conditions. Mine doesn't rust, it fit perfectly, it performs admirably, it doesn't leak, it came with nice gaskets and bolts, it's really shiny from head to toe (not my preference, but hey), etc. I don't know where the quality claim can be made...

Cool, this in my view is a much better response because you point out that as well as making good power yours has no rust issues, fitment was good, came with all hardware needed etc.

Thanks,

Keith
