Well my new job just told me that I need to buy a newer 4 door vehicle, and they will give me 500 per month to do it! So I am seriously considering the evo, as a DSMer.

I would have to be using this car for work on occasion and daily driving it about 10 miles a day. I am just looking for impressions of the car as a daily driver. I am sure there might be disscussions on this so I would be happy with links.

thanks, Greg

My EVO is my daily driver, and if you live anywhere where the roads are maintained a "reasonable" amount you will love it. If you live in Detroit (I used to live there, trust me on this) do NOT get the EVO as a daily driver, get the WRX STi... the softer suspension on the STi will keep you from wanting to kill someone :)

Fuel milage varies with maturity level. I get between 20 and 22 mpg commuting back and forth to work (not much stop and go, but some) and 26 to 28 mpg highway cruising at 75 to 85 mph.

Now the fact that the company wants you to have a four door enough to be willing to buy you one.... does that mean you need an image car to impress clients or take them to meetings and such? If yes, then don't get a sport compact type of 4 door. Even though in reality it is a great performance value it doesn't project the correct image for business use.
Perhaps if you were willing to switch to a low wing and buy some JDM EVO VII tail lights (red instead of alteza style) it would still work out. I did this myself for the sleeper effect.

Where exactly do you work? And are they hiring?
Fawk! $500 a month. That's the payment on a used '03 and still funds for mods. Coming from a DSM your going to love it. It's basically all the same. :thumb:
Mine's a daily driver, love it, and average 20mpg. And I have no radio or power anything.

Well thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate the input.

To Answer some questions, I am going to be a field service engineer so I will not need to be impressing anyone or making a proper impression on a client. But, the functionality the car would be important and it would need to be able to fit the tool cases as well as be reliable in a daily driving situation. The evo would defiantly hold the tool cases, but I am still not certain how the car would work out for me with traffic and daily driving. I can say I am willing to deal with some discomfort in exchange for an exciting car.

Oh yeah, Im in the bay area by the way and I am also considereing a lexus is300.

In your situation I would go with the EVO hands down. I have had zero reliability issues with mine, and I am making 375 HP at the wheels on pump gas on a daily basis. That is the only reason I don't trade up to an MR.... to much time and parts invested in my 03 EVO. It would be a pain in the ass to convert back to stock for trade in, and financal ruin to trade it in with all these parts on it :)

Keith, was the 115mph trap done at your current 375whp on pump?

Best I have run on pump (full weight, spare tire, jack, and with catalytic converter) was 12.5 at 111. If I could drive worth a $hit (or is that drive more abusivly to my drivetrain?) I would be in the 11's on race gas.
