I'll get down to it.
03 Apex Silver with 16,500 miles. Excellent shape. Has volk ce28 wheels, aem standalone, upgraded front mount (brand not sure), aftermarket front bumper (brand not sure), intake, greddy bov. New clutch (brand not sure, not oem). Everything else is stock.

From a dealer. I'm guessing it had other mods done to it that were taken off, reasons unknown.

Are there any recalls for the 03 model? I'm guessing the warranty will be void because of the aem.

Besides normal used car bs what else should I be looking for or asking questions about. I have a 91 eclipse so mitsu's aren't new to me, but I have no experiece with evo's. I will try and get compression test numbers also

Thanks!

If your seriously considering buying this car you're a brave man. That better be a screaming deal too. Who knows what that cars been through...
AEM EMS WTF what's on there and who tuned it?
I suspect there's a very scary reason this was traded into the dealer.
... but if it's a screaming deal you really can't pass up;
Do the compression test;
Standard value: 163 psi.
Minimum limit: 138 psi.
Compression pressure differences across all cylinders: <14 psi.
I can't think of any recalls for the 03, but there have been some recurring misfire codes/ECU related. Some had some bad syncros, but were fixed under warranty.
Good luck and keep us posted.
more things to look for

Look under the hood, look to see if there was any boost controller installed(look around the vacume lines). Manual or electronic. Is there any modifications in the dash area..ie holes cut...for any sort of switches/controllers installed in dash. Whats the rubber look like(might show signs of excessive driving). If you really want to tell if its been driven hard, take off one of the front tires and look at the brake wear, if its excessive for the milage....

Is the car running well? Is there a boost gauge installed? Can you give any more details on what has been modified? A different FMIC, and AEM usually means someone did more than what is shown. That would be a pretty odd upgrade path to do those two things first. Exhaust? DP? Compression check would help for internal assumption. Don't let the dealer charge you for the AEM, tell them if they are going to leave it then don't charge you for it. Its a great deal getter, by telling them they can remove it if they are going to tack on the price. They would rather leave it than remove it and be stuck with it in the shop.

Are you sure you really want to buy one that's been modded as much as that? I take it they're not going to offer you a warranty. I guess if it's an awesome deal, it might be worth going for. But man, that's a gamble.
I wouldn't buy it, people don't usally just get aem ems' for no reason. I bet this car had some serious power running through it and poeple don't make serious power not to drive it. I'd bet its been driven very hard and fast.
