When it comes to oil filters I've only used Mitsu's OEM. They work perfectly; no guessing or wondering. Their filters got me 140K+ miles out of my Eclipse so I'm sticking with them.
OEM :dsm:
I always use Mobil 1 filters. Always check the box though, some [email protected] switched a $3.00 filter into a Mobil 1 filter box and I got stuck with the damn thing!
Sorry, I have to bring this back from the dead. Im getting close to doing the oil change on the Evo and I happen to have a 1g DSM oil filter sitting at home. Now if I remember right I was going to use this on my 2g DSM becuase I believe people mention they filter better then the small filter the 2g comes with. So I looked up the filter numbers at Autozone for the Evo and The 2g and their the same one. So is it safe to use the 1g small fat filter on the Evo?
I'm not sure on the fitting of that filter but I would say for less then $20 I would just go get the correct filter from :dsm: but I'm always into the more safe then sorry step of things.......reading the past posts just want to put out there NEVER touch a fram filter the spring they use and the seals are crap!
Well the one I had sitting around was a mitsu filte. And aftEr taking a better look at the evo fiLter they looked exactly the same except for differenet part numbErs.
