Are you into?
I drag race for now because I need to get another set of rims and tires for the track but I want to start road racing as soon as I can. My old man runs a 1969 Merlyn / Formula Ford on the CSRG Vintage Circuit. Its a bunch of old guys with a lot of cash and real nice old school race cars from the late 30's to to the early 80's. We run at Thunderhill, Infineon, Laguna Seca and Calif Speedway. There are a lot of events and open days where all you need is a helmet and about $125.

Cheers

I drive mine about 600 miles a week........I don't plan on dragging it often though as those launches are rough on the car. I would rather save the engine for the road courses but I'm still learning to drive the car and the track helps. I wouldn't mind trying to pick up another EVO to turn into a full track car......but that's a few years away ;)

$125 for an open track day at Laguna - I need to meet the people you know :)

I know, I know, you were probably referring to Thunder Hill... but even Thunderhill is charging an arm and a leg this season to help pay for all the renovations they made.

Thunderhill is the cheapest but ButtonWillow down south usually has events for about $100-$150. We test the Merlyn on Fridays at Thunderhill for $150 for a half day and $250 for a full day. With the fuel to get there and about $50 in race fuel, it can add up to be an expensive day. I have some contacts at Thunderhill though and I'm going to see if we could possibly get a DSM day there. Chris, PM me if your interested in something like this.

I like drag racing, never was really into the road courses. i don't even know of any road courses in maryland.
if you find any be sure to let me know!!! we use to go to Hershey park, in hershey PA and use their parking lot. we'd have to ask them first and we used cones. but the last i heard it's not an option anymore because of numerous noise complaints.

Drag racing for me if you are talking about at an actual track. I love to take it out onto a twisty assed road and open her up though! Just have to make sure no cops are in the area and stay in my own damn lane :)

I will be in touch - even though most open days this year are already taken... I think me and some friends will be doing one in July, not sure which day. I'll let you know though.

I really like AutoX and want to try road racing...now I need a car though...damnit...hopefully I'll have the Evo and have it broken in by the first autox's then I'll learn how to drive the car better and be able to take it one some road courses...

drag is ok...just not as exciting for me. I only like to go to see my time...so like for one day...then I wouldn't want to go again unless a group of friends were going or I got a bunch of mods on the car and it was way faster.
