Whats going on guys? I just bought my 06 MR a little while ago and im slowly trying to do some mods that will gain some performance and at the same time try and keep me away from the warrenty voiding mods. What i'm looking into now is a stainless steel clutch line. I know there is a couple different places to buy them from like, lancershop.com, Buschur, STikiller.com, and Slowboy. All the clutch lines seem to be about the same except for the price which ranges from $25-$35. From what i have read the clutch line seems like its a really good idea since the stock one isnt very good quality. I was wondering if you guys could give me some more info on these clutch lines, like where you ordered it from and which one you have? Is there any performance difference at all between each one or does one work better then another? Also i wanted to make sure that they will work and fit the same on an 06 MR since it has the 6 speed tranny? I'm pretty sure the clutch line is the same on the 5 speed and 6 speed trannies but i just wanted to make sure. Pretty much if you if you have any info on the clutch lines post it on here, thanks, later.

I have an 05 MR and installed a SS clutch line. It fit fine, so there is no issue there. A local Evo'er just gave it to me for all the help I had provided him and since he decided not to use it, so I can't give you purchasing info. He had gotten it from a local vendor in a raffle we had at a big Club get together. Regardless, they should all be the same in terms of fitment and quality. I haven't yet read of there being different types, so just get one for $25.

It definitely is a good mod to do, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it if you are trying to maintain your warranty. Mitsu could quickl and easily point to that line as being a cause for clutch, tranny, or transfer case failure. Would it be ethical? No. Is Mitsu capable of and likely to do something like that? Yes.

Keep that in mind. The only mods I would suggest when trying to maintain your warranty are...

- drop-in filter (K&N or Works)
- cat-back (can't touch the cat or anything ahead of it)
- flash (would suck if you got caught having it, but it's undetectable unless they specifically look for it)
- MBC (only if you don't mind uninstalling it when going to the dealer)

That's about all I can suggest. I use an SAFC that can be disconnected in 2 minutes and put back to stock, but I don't think there is a patch harness for the IX YET, and it's not confirmed that the SAFC is capable of manipulating the new ECU's 6 separate maps effectively.

Yeah thats true, i didn't even think about mitsu just pointing to that incase of a clutch, tranny, or transfer case failure. Thats kinda funny though, cause from what i have read it seems that the stock clutch line would lead to those problems more or faster then an aftermarket SS clutch line.
Talking about what does and doesn't void warrenty kinda changes the thread a little bit but its all good. Yeah we talked before about what does and doesn't void the warrenty. My car has about 850 miles on it now i'm going to wait till about 1,000-1,500 miles and change the oil and at the same time ill put the K&N drop in filter that i bought in. I already installed a Greddy turbo timer too.
I would like to get an EBC since they hold boost better till redline then a MBC but they are also a lot more expensive and probably a little harder to uninstall if i have to take the car to a dealership. I had a Hallman Evo in cab MBC on my GSX and it worked real well, held boost within about 1 psi till redline and was very easy to adjust. So when i do get one i will probably end up going with that again.
Just like you i will probably end up going with the Megan 3 inch TBE. Real cheap and also flows very well. Does Megan make a 3 inch high flow cat to go with their TBE or just a 3 inch test pipe?
Yeah i have also been looking into the ecu flash, probably by dynoflash, or turbo trix. But i will probably have to wait a little longer till someone offers one for the MIVEC motor. When i am back home in jersey turbo trix is only about an hour from me and i took my GSX there for dyno tuning a couple times.
Also one of the dealerships i talked to said that if you mess with any gaskets on the exhaust it will void warrenty (besides cat back), but i have an i idea to try and work around that, let me know what you think. I would like to put the Megan TBE on soon, so i was thinking about unbolting the exhaust at the 02 housing and keeping the rest of the exhaust all bolted together and taking it out of the rubber hangers. So by doing this i would keep the exhaust completely together and the only gasket i would mess with really would be the at the 02 housing. I would just lay the whole exhaust system on the side of my garage so if i had to go to the dealership for something i would just put it back on. Let me know if you think that would work. Warrtalon, you seem to be helping me out the most with all my evo stuff so far so let me know what you think about all that. If anybody else has any other info on the SS clutch lines or any other stuff relating to what we are talking about feel free to post. Any info is helpful and appreciated, Thanks.

A couple of problems/comments here:

1) No, Megan doesn't make a HFC
2) The Megan apparently doesn't fit on the IX, so you may want to re-think your plans, especially if you plan to put on a TBE very soon. Hopefully, more people try it and find that it DOES fit, but so far it hasn't, and Megan is releasing a new exhaust specifically for the IX, so you may want to wait.
3) Even if you wanted to take the whole exhaust off as one piece, it might be tough because of the undercar braces. Maybe if you remove those and have a lift, you can do it easily. Maybe even with just 4 jackstands, but it won't be the easiest thing in the world.
4) Flashes are already available for the IX. All the big tuners have already been doing IXs and manipulating the MIVEC with EcuTek (including TurboTrix) for over a month now. Even better is [email protected] who has already released his own flash (TechTom software) for the IX in addition to the EcuTek version. This is important, because an EcuTek flash costs $650, but a Dynoflash costs $249 until New Years, and then $299 for 2006 - less than half of an EcuTek with more features and equivalent gains.

Yeah good point about the Megan exhaust. Now that i think about it, i have seen under car pics of the VIII and IX and the exhaust does look different. Hopefully Megan comes out with the exhaust for the IX soon, i really want to get it. Hopefully there is a HFC out there too that will work with the Megan downpipe and cat back exhaust, if not i will probably have my friend weld me some flanges onto 3 inch universal cat.
I do have 4 jack stands but i havent had a chance to get the evo up in the air yet. Probably when i change the oil soon ill get the evo up in the air so i can look at and go over all the suspension parts on it and at the same time look at the exhaust to see if i can somehow take it off in 1 piece. Obviously i would not be able to do that by myself but i have a couple roommates thats said they would help me when i try it.
Also thanks a lot for the info on the flashes for the IX ecus. I haven't been able to find too much info on flashes for the IXs so i have mainly been reading info on flashes for the VIIIs. But now that i know that i'll look into it more. Thanks again for all the info.

Like i said before if anybody has any other info on the SS clutch lines or someting related to what we are talking about now definitley post it. Thanks.

Yeah hopefully i will just be able to find a random flanged HFC. When i was looking for a 3 inch HFC for my GSX, with flanges on, the prices ranged from $125-200. So i went to Summit and got a Catco HFC, universal, and bought some flanges for it. One of my friends welded the flanges on and total with shipping everything cost me $100 at most. I haven't heard much about the UR HFC so i'll look more into them, thanks.
