What is the max psi I can run?

3552 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  turbolarry
I just bought a MBC (manual boost Controller) for my evo 9 mr and was wondering what is the max psi I can run with out running out of fuel(fuel cut), or breaking something.
Thanks :dsm:

I've never worked on a IX, but I ran 20psi in stock form with no problems. If you do try higher, the worst that's going to happen is fuel cut but you won't break anything. I've tried 22psi, but it knocks a little between 4500-5500 RPM's on 91 octane.
The stock boost gauge reads 2.0bar at WOT, when converted to psi what is 2.0 bar?
2.0 bar and nothing has gone boom? did you already hook up the MBC and adjust it? Or was the 2bar in stock form?
My bad that was a error.
The stock boost gauge reads like 1.3 bar.
Can anyone give like a comparison table between psi and bar.
I installed the MBC but I want it set to the max but first I need to know how to read the bar gauge.
Should I buy a auto meter gauge to be more acurate, am I right?

The stock one works fine.
There's a conversion calculator here;
Click on "Technical" and go to "Calculators". Click on "Unit Converters" and the first one is pressure.

P.S.
There's also all kinds of formulas, data/info, maps, all kinds of cool stuff here.
That site is kool!

Yeah mine reads like 1.3 1.5 bar but im thinking of changing over to psi.
Please don't run more than 1.4bar in stock form. Do NOT set it "to the max," because that will damage your engine.
Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it. :thumb: :dsm:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=1+bar+in+psi

just go by that, 1 bar=14.5 psi.

so, (heres the gruling hard mathmatical part) .1 bar= 1.45 psi

and then, you have to add:eek:

formula? its simple ratios...

also, if you right click on any link and select open in new window, it opens with the correct url...
